Appendix 3 Trouble-shooting

General Problem

Correction

Communication between wireless LAN stations is

not possible.

·

Check whether the wireless LAN card is correctly

inserted.

·

Check whether the driver is normally operating on

the server (access point).

·

Check whether the station is operating in

infrastructure mode.

·

Check whether both station and access point have

the same network name (ESSID).

·

When WEP is enabled, check whether both station

and access point have the same WEP key.

·

Check whether the station is within the area of

communication with the access point.

·

If the 802.1X function is enabled, setting may have

failed. Refer to the later description about

troubleshooting related to the 802.1X function.

Communication between wireless LAN stations is

possible but communication with the PC on a wired

LAN is not possible.

·

Check whether the access point is set up to

connect to the wired LAN network.

·

Check whether the wired LAN driver is normally

operating on the server (access point).

·

Check whether the wired LAN cable is correctly

inserted in the server (access point).

·

When filtering by the MAC address is enabled,

check whether the address is correctly set up.

·

If the 802.1X function is enabled, setting may have

failed. Refer to the later description about

troubleshooting related to the 802.1X function.

Wired LAN Selection Utility

Problem

Correction

The Wired LAN Selection Utility displays the

message "Initialization failed."

·

Reexecute the initialization. If the error persists,

reinstall the Software Access Point.
