introduction

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to Philips AVENT! To fully

benefit from the support that Philips AVENT offers, register your product

at www.philips.com/welcome. Philips AVENT is dedicated to producing

caring, reliable products that give parents the reassurance they need. This

Philips AVENT humidifier helps to improve the air quality of your baby’s

room by adding moisture to the air to establish a comfortable humidity

level. A correct humidity level helps to protect your baby from irritation

of the mucous membranes, dry and itchy skin, chapped lips and a dry, sore

throat. When the mucous membranes do not function optimally, they

cannot give your baby full protection from all kinds of germs. This increases

the chance of your baby catching a cold or the flu and reduces the baby’s

resistance to infection by mould and bacteria.

Make sure you follow the safety guidelines in chapter Important when you

use the humidifier so that you do not expose your baby to any risk.
relative humidity level
People need a certain level of humidity to feel comfortable. Using a

humidifier helps you to keep indoor humidity at a comfortable level. A

humidity level between 40 and 60% is recommended. A humidity level

below 30% can be dry and uncomfortable. The Philips AVENT humidifier

comes with a thermometer/hygrometer set that allows you to check

humidity and temperature at regular times.

The amount of water vapour in the air is usually less than is required to

saturate the air. Relative humidity is the amount of water vapour in the air

compared to the amount of water vapour the air can hold at the current

temperature.
Working principle of the humidifier
The Philips AVENT humidifier uses an ultrasonic, high-frequency steam

generator to break up the water into tiny particles. The ventilation

system blows out these water particles (mist) into the dry air where they

evaporate to ensure the required humidity. The great advantage of the

ultrasonic technique is that it operates extremely quietly without affecting

the room temperature or steaming up windows, walls or furniture.

The humidifier holds about 2 litres of water in the tank and produces

up to 400ml of moisture per hour, depending on the room humidity and

temperature.

The inhibitor is made of an antibacterial material (ABS) that inhibits the

growth of bacteria in the water tank.
