Note: When you manually set a recording path outside the current project folder, the
recording path is “absolute.” This means that the recording path for the audio data always
remains the same, even after you use the Save As command to save it as a new project
or when you move the project file in the Finder.
To define the recording folder
1 Open the Recording project settings by doing one of the following:
• Choose File > Project Settings > Recording (or use the Open Recording Project Settings
key command, default assignment: Option-*).
• Click the Settings button in the Arrange toolbar, and choose Recording from the pop-up
menu.
• Control-click (or right-click) the Record button in the Transport bar, and choose
Recording Settings from the pop-up menu.
2 Click the Set button, browse to the desired recording folder, and click Choose.
Naming Audio Recordings
When you are recording, the track name is used as the default filename. Subsequent
recordings made on this track are assigned an ascending numerical suffix. “Audio 1” is
named “Audio 1_01,” “Audio 1_02,” and so on. If the track is not named, the name of the
channel strip that the track is routed to is used. You can rename tracks in the Arrange
track list and Mixer (see
Naming Tracks in the Arrange Area and Renaming Tracks in the
Mixer ).
Choosing the Recording File Type
You should choose the preferred file type—AIFF, WAV, or CAF—for audio data before
recording.
To choose the recording file type
1 Open Audio preferences by doing one of the following:
• Choose Logic Express > Preferences > Audio (or use the Open Audio Preferences key
command).
• Click the Preferences button in the Arrange toolbar, and choose Audio from the pop-up
menu.
