4.2

OPERATOR’S CAB

4.2.1

Cab Safety

DO NOT weld, grind, drill, repair or modify the cab in any
way. Any modification or damage to cab structural
components requires cab replacement. The lives of the
operator and others are potentially at stake.

To help ensure optimum safety, protection and
performance, replace the cab if it is damaged. Refer to
the appropriate parts manual for ordering information.

4.2.2

Serial Number Decal

The cab serial number decal is located on the inside of
the cab, above the rear window opening. Information
specified on the serial number plate includes the cab
model number, the cab serial number and other data.
Write this information down in a convenient location to
use in cab correspondence.

4.3

CAB COMPONENTS

4.3.1

Steering Column and Steering Valve

a. Steering Valve Removal

1. Park the machine on a firm, level surface, level the

machine, fully retract the boom, lower the boom,
place the travel select lever in the (N) NEUTRAL
position, engage the parking brake and turn the
engine OFF.

2. Place a Do Not Operate Tag on both the ignition key

switch and the steering wheel, stating that the
machine should not be operated.

3. Open the engine cover. Allow the system fluids to

cool.

4. Properly disconnect the batteries.

5. Remove the front display panel. Label and

disconnect the electrical connector attached to the
display panel.

6. Remove the lower dash panel.

7. Remove the steering wheel and disconnect and

remove the travel select lever (1) and turn signal
lever (2).

8. Label, disconnect and cap the four hoses from the

top of the steering valve (3). Cap the fittings on the
steering valve. Label, disconnect and plug the load
sense hose on the left of the steering valve. Cap the
fitting on the steering valve.

WARNING

DO NOT service the machine without following all
safety precautions as outlined in the “Safety
Practices” section of this manual.

WARNING

The protection offered by this ROPS/FOPS will be
impaired if subjected to any modification or structural
damage, at which time replacement is necessary.
ROPS/FOPS must be properly installed using
fasteners of correct size and grade, and torqued to
their specified value.
