214. Secure one of the plastic

“rim protector bead lift aids” that
was supplied with the PAX kit or
from the new tire kit supplied by
the tire manufacturer. Observe the
plastic part and notice that a
depression exists on one side of
the flap portion.

The plastic part should be ori-

ented in a direction that the slot is
toward the tire when installed.

215.

Observe the distance

between the rim and the tire;
should be about 1/4-inch gap to
insert the plastic aid.

216. Stop the rotation of the tire

and place the end of the plastic
protector between the roller, rim,
and tire as shown. Make sure the
slot in the plastic flap is down
toward the tire’s sidewall.

To prevent injury, keep fingers
away from the roller tool as
plastic part is being installed.

217. Jog the rotation of the tire

allowing the plastic protector to
sandwich between the tire bead
and the rim flange. Note that the
flap rolls under the roller.

218. Continue to rotate the tire

until the plastic aid is in the 2
o’clock position. Swing the double
roller arm away from the tire and
rim. Move to the opposite side of
the machine. Secure the PAX tire
lifting tool and apply rubber lubri-
cant to both sides of the tip. Insert
the tip into the slot of the plastic
aid. Use force to assure the lip of
the tool is under the tire bead.

219. With the tool in position,

rotate toward the center.

220. Hold at this position. Note

that the tire bead may not free
itself from the rim.
