Horizontal or Vertical Mounting
• To mount horizontally (left to right), add the expansion block
in an end-to-end configuration.
• To mount vertically (up or down), add an expansion block
either up or down in a back-to-back configuration. In this
configuration, you must use the optional 15 cm (5.9 in.)
ribbon cable (1790-15CMCBL) and alternately position the
blocks in a right-side up, upside-down fashion.
Mount your blocks on a panel or DIN rail.
Wire the D-shell Connectors
WARNING
If you connect or disconnect wiring while the field-side power is on, an electrical arc
can occur. This could cause an explosion in hazardous location installations. Be sure
that power is removed or the area is nonhazardous before proceeding.
The longer expansion cable
(1790-15CMCBL) provides for
up to 7 cm (2.76 in.) of space
in between blocks.
