In addition to the “Valve Test” dialog, the progress of a test can be observed in the “Monitor Status”
view.

4.12. Recording Automated Tests and External Events

The Valve Manager continuously monitors all valves in all projects for their current status and activity.
Applications following the guidelines on automated testing can initiate a valve test outside of the Valve
Manager, but still have the Valve Manager collect the test results, apply any additional threshold
pass/fail criteria, and save the resulting information in the project’s database.

Working in conjunction with the VTEST function block, the Valve Manager will also collect transition
time information when the valve itself is commanded to change state. There is a slight delay (32
seconds) after the commanded change of state before this data becomes available. The Valve
Manager will mark the data collected in this manner as “External”, meaning that it was generated
outside of a test, but will still apply any threshold pass/fail criteria.

4.13. Clearing Valve Test History

The historical test results for a valve can be removed from the project’s database. Select the valve
whose history you want to remove in the “Project Tree”, then select “Valve | Clear Valve Test History”
from the main menu. The Valve Manager will display a dialog box asking for confirmation.

Selecting “Yes” will remove all test results for the selected valve. The valve’s profile information will not
be removed.
