insufficient) pump-
ing of regeneration
or rinsing solution Leak in the system. Check connections.
Peristaltic pump – contact
pressure too weak. Correctly set contact pressure (see "Set the
contact pressure", page 49).
Peristaltic pump – filter
blocked . Replace the filter (see "Replacing the filter",
page 81).
Suppressor – backpressure
too high. Clean the suppressor (see Chapter 5.11.3.3,
page 85) or replace parts (see Chapter
5.11.3.4, page 86).
Peristaltic pump – pump
tubing defective. Replace pump tubing.
Chromatograms
have poor resolution Separation column –
diminished separating effi-
ciency. ￭ Regenerate separation column (see Chap-
ter 5.12.4, page 89).
￭ Replace separation column (see "Connect-
ing and rinsing the separation column",
page 57).
Extreme spread of
the peaks in the
chromatogram.
Splitting (dual
peaks) Capillary connections –
dead volume in the system. Check connections (see Chapter 3.5, page 17)
(use PEEK capillaries with an internal diameter
of 0.25 mm between the injection valve and
detector).
Guard column – diminished
performance. ￭ Replace guard column (see Chapter 3.18,
page 54).
Separation column – dead
volume at column head. ￭ Install the separation column in reverse
flow direction (if permitted by the leaflet)
and rinse into a beaker.
￭ Replace separation column (see "Connect-
ing and rinsing the separation column",
page 57).
Greater rise in the
baseline Suppressor – reduced
capacity. Regenerate the suppressor (see Chapter
5.11.3.2, page 83).
