Maintenance and Lubrication

Maintenance

1.

Always use the manual u-channel transport locks
when working on or doing maintenance to the Disk
Harrow. If folded, be sure automatic transport locks
are engaging and working properly. If an auto lock
gets damaged, remove both locks or flip both locks
forward until the damaged lock is replaced. Do not
use one auto lock with one manual lock, damage
may occur. Use manual u-channel locks until auto
locks are both functional. Read and understand all
safety decals on your equipment.

2.

During the first season of operation, and periodically
after that, check your bolts for tightness. Check disk
gang bolts for loose blades. Tighten as needed.

3.

Replace or rotate worn parts as needed -- hinge
bolts, clevis pins, bearings, blades, etc. Some Boron
disc blades cannot be rolled to sharpen, they must
be ground. Cracks and breakage will occur if rolled.
The heavy blade option is rollable.

4.

Check and tighten or replace any hydraulic leaks.
Check hoses for any leaks. It is important that there
are no leaks on the equipment.

5.

Grease wheel bearings and walking beams spar-
ingly. Over greasing may cause damage to seals and
reduce the life of the bearing. Take caution when
greasing walking beam pivots as not to over grease
and accidentally push the seal out of the assembly.
Grease hinge points periodically.

6.

Check drag bolts for loosness or excessive wear.
Replace broken or bent teeth. Your drag is an impor-
tant part of the tillage operation.

7.

If machine is stored outdoors over the winter months,
it is a good idea to fold the machine then set it down
on the ground so all the cylinders are retracted to
protect the cylinder rods. This will extend the life of
the cylinder seals and reduce internal and external
leaks.

By following and maintaining a routine service and lubri-
cation program, your tillage equipment will give you
many years of service.
