Front Drives with Fertilizer
If the drill does not have fertilizer, use the steps at “Front
Drives without Fertilizer” on page 13.
Start with the left drill section, at the clutch bearing plate.
Refer to Figure 26
70. Locate the fertilizer jackshaft input sprocket
below the clutch output sprocket.
71. Loosen the idler .
72. Drive out and save:
805-180C PIN ROLL 1/4 X 1 1/2 LG PLT
Refer to Figure 27, which depicts corner drive mounting for
center and right drill sections.
73. At the right front corner of the frame, locate:
195-273S 40’-3S FERT DR SUBASSY LH
Loosen and relax all idlers.
74. Loosen set screws, remove and save:
808-143C SPKT 40B12 7/8 HEX BORE W/SS
75. Slide fertilizer jackshaft left, out of fertilizer
assembly .
76. Select one new:
808-194C SPKT 40B22 7/8 HEX BORE & SS
Orient it with the set screw hub to drill right and slide
it onto the jackshaft
. Use the set screws to
temporarily secure it about 10 inches (25 cm) from
the end of the shaft. Do not re-install the shaft at this
time.
Note: In the next step, leave the mounting bolt at right
rear of the fertilizer drive assembly (not visible in
figure). It keeps the drive in place and correctly
aligned.
77. Remove and save the 2 or 3 sets of front and left
fasteners that secure the fertilizer drive
assembly to the frame. These fasteners may be
bolts and/or U-bolts, depending on drill section.
