Lift the system board out of the chassis.

 

Replacing the System Board

 

1.

Follow the instructions in

Before You Begin

.


 

2.

To replace the system board place the system board back in the chassis.

 

3.

Replace the five M2.5 x 5-mm screws that secure the system board to the chassis.

 

4.

Replace the five screws that secure the system board to the chassis.

 

5.

Reconnect the cables to the system board.

 

6.

Replace the system fan and heat sink assembly (see

).


 

7.

Replace the processor fan and heat sink (see

Replacing the Processor Fan

and

Replacing the Heat Sink

).


 

8.

Replace the back I/O panel (see

Replacing the Back I/O Panel

).


 

9.

Replace the stand (see

Replacing the Stand

).


 

10.

Replace the shield (see

Replacing the Shield

).


 

11.

Replace the computer cover (see

Replacing the Computer Cover

).

 

 

12.

Turn on the computer.

 

13.

Insert the CD that accompanied the replacement system board into the appropriate drive. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.

CAUTION:

Before turning on the computer, replace all screws and ensure that no stray screws remain inside the computer. Failure to do so may

result in damage to the computer.

NOTE:

After you have replaced the system board, enter the computer Service Tag in the BIOS of the replacement system board.
