System Administrator’s Guide

I forgot to plug in my net-
work connection before I
inserted my Kick-Start
diskette and powered on.
Can I still use Kick-Start?

No, power down the sys-
tem by pressing and
holding the power but-
ton on the front panel
and connect the cable.

You will need to connect
a monitor, keyboard, and
mouse, and then power
on the system and log on
as administrator. You will
now need to set the IP
address through the
Advanced Administra-
tion Menu
. To do this:
1. Click once on Network
Properties
in System
Settings
. This will open
a Network and Dial-up
connections
window.
2. Click Local Area Con-
nection
, scroll down and
click Properties. This will
open a Local Area Con-
nection Properties
win-
dow.
3. Scroll down and select
Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
then push the Properties
button. This will open a
new
window titled Internet
Protocol (TCP/IP) Proper-
ties.
4. Enter the IP address.
5. Click OK. You will be
prompted to reboot your
system.
6. After you reboot, you
can use the NAS Man-
ager to set up your sys-
tem.

I finished using Kick-Start
and rebooted the sys-
tem, but it keeps shutting
down and powering off.

You have left the Kick-
Start diskette in the drive.

Remove the diskette
from the drive and power
on the system again.
