ASSIGN all contents of this disk to a Different Disk

If you select this option, you will be provided a list of available (unused) disks. If you select a new disk from
the list, any partitions, slices or their contents (i.e. filesystems, ZFS or SVM volumes) will be moved to the
new disk. The corresponding partition, slice and disk names in any configuration files will reflect the
change.

MIGRATE a slice on this disk to a different disk

If you select this option, the

slice table

will be displayed where you can select a slice to be moved to a

different disk. You will then be prompted for the location on the new disk to place the slice. If the slice
contained filesystem data or was used by another SVM or ZFS device, all other system information will be
updated to reflect the new slice name.

DO NOT RESTORE this backup data

By selecting this option, you are choosing not to restore the data that is assigned to the selected disk. By
doing so, all previous contents will become undefined, and the disk will not be used when installing the
system. Any data that actually resides on the disk at this time will not be overwritten.

If you choose not to restore a disk containing partitions or slices, the partitions and slices will be deleted as
well as any contents of those partitions or slices, whether they are filesystems, SVM or ZFS volumes. If
selecting not to restore a disk’s contents causes any problems which would prevent the installation from
being performed, you will be informed so and required to make additional changes before continuing the
installation.

When you have finished all changes, press F3 or ESC to return to

Select Disks to Use for Installation

and F3 or

ESC again to return to the

Settings Menu

.

Change FDISK Partition Tables

This option on the menu is really just a shortcut into the same options available when selecting disks to use for
installation. You have the same options of changing partition information or adding new partitions to a disk, but
must use the

Select Disks to Use for Installation

option to move partitions or other data between disks.

If there is more than one disk on the system, you will be asked to select a disk from the list. After doing so, a
screen similar to the following will appear:
