The following chart gives a summary of this unit’s surround features.
•All the features are only effective if speakers are used. No discernible effect will be heard through headphones.
• None of the features are effective when radio is selected as the source.
•You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these surround systems are used with some sources. If this occurs, turn the surround
system off.

Software
•Dolby Digital is a discrete 5.1 (6) channel
surround system developed for cinema
use.
The sound signals in Dolby Digital format
are compressed to 1/10 their original
size, allowing an entire movie to be re­
corded on a single DVD.
•This unit automatically recognizes DVDs
that have been recorded with Dolby
Digital.
• Not all Dolby Digital sources are recorded
with 5.1 (6) channels.
Some sources marked Dolby Digital may
be recorded in Dolby Surround, a 2 chan­
nel system.
Software encoded with Dolby Digital can
be identified with this mark.

Dolby Pro Logic is a decoding system that
was developed to get a better sense of
presence from sources encoded with
Dolby Surround. The feeling of position has
been improved by the addition of a sepa­
rate center speaker channel.
