13.11.9 ASCII to Telex Character Mapping

TCfW uses the Courier New font for displaying Telex messages in the text mode. It is not
possible to select another font for displaying telex messages in text mode. ASCII characters
that do not exist in the Telex character set are converted using an ASCII to Telex character
mapping. This character mapping can be configured with the KCS Preferences.

13.11.9.1

Default ASCII to Telex Character Mapping

If no ASCII to Telex character mapping is configured following default character mapping table
is used:

"=''

`=?

j=J

t=T

£=GBP

ä=AE

#=?

a=A

k=K

u=U

¥=YEN

ö=OE

$=DLRS

b=B

l=L

v=V

§=PAR

ü=UE

%=O/O

c=C

m=M

w=W

¼=1/4

&=+

d=D

n=N

x=X

½=1/2

*=?

e=E

o=O

y=Y

¾=3/4

@=AT

f=F

p=P

z=Z

Ä=AE

[=(

g=G

q=Q

~=-

Ö=OE

\=/

h=H

r=R

€=EUR

Ü=UE

]=)

i=I

s=S

¢=CTS

ß=SS

Example: ü = UE means that the ASCII character ü is mapped to the Telex characters UE.

The Telex character mapping contains 53 characters; the remaining 252 characters of the
ASCII table are used without character mapping.
