Configuration Concepts

Processing Configuration and Document Configuration

The behavior of INDICIUS when processing a particular document set is controlled
by a set of configuration files as well as settings within the batch class. Configuration
is done using both Kofax Capture Administration and the set of specialized
INDICIUS configuration tools.

Why Configure Some Options from within Kofax Capture
Administration but Others in Separate Tools?

In general, the batch class specifies high level options, for example, how navigation
between documents in the batch occurs and shortcut keys for specific functions in the
modules. These are configured in Kofax Capture Administration.

The INDICIUS configuration files specify how the data is to be captured, for
example, the position of the fields, the type of data, links to validation scripts etc.
These files are created in the configuration tools. The benefit of this split approach is
that it allows the configuration files to be tested “offline”, both with the configuration
tools themselves and with dedicated test tools such as the Recognition Test Tool.

Steps to Building an INDICIUS Solution

The typical process to build an INDICIUS solution for a particular document set
(which you will work through later) is as follows:

Step 1: Create a batch class for the solution in Kofax Capture Administration.
Step 2: Create and test a set of configuration files using the INDICIUS tools.
Step 3: Assign the configuration files to the batch class.
