Entering [#] is a shorthand method for entering all numerics (0123456789).
The other characters represent themselves and do not have any special
meaning.

Set the values of “Minimum Length” and “Maximum Length” to 12.

Select the “TransferDate” field.

Select the Validation property on the Properties panel.

Click to display a Field Validation window.

For the Validation Type, select “MMDDYY” and click OK.

Save the template file.
Assigning Scripted Validations
More complex validations, such as check digit algorithms, database lookups,
reconciliation of totals etc, can be implemented in Completion using scripts.
Validations can be performed using the data in a single field or across multiple fields,
possibly on multiple documents.

To use a script file for validation

Minimize Template Editor.

Copy the following file to the clipboard:
<Installation Path>\examples\Solicitors
Letters\templates\SolicitorsLetter.ifv.

Paste it to the following folder:
<Installation Path>\templates\.

Maximize Template Editor.

Select the Hooks tab in the bottom right of the Template Editor view.
This shows all the fields and any validation or data transformation scripts
assigned to them.

Select the Validate property of the “ZipCode” field.

Double-click on the “File” column and select the copied file.
