Getting Started Guide (Free-Form)

Note that numeric dates must have one of /\- or . as a separator. Dates
including alpha months can also have spaces.

4

Click OK to close the builder.

The Target Property is automatically populated with the regular expression.

You will need to ensure the regular expression doesn’t fail due to spaces in
the data (numeric values can be variably spaced and additional spaces can
occasionally be found).

5

On the Basic tab under Target, set the value of the Ignore Spaces property to
True.

Spaces will be ignored when looking for the target.

The search is now configured and can be tested.

Note

The value of the Search Type property on the Main tab will default to “1 -

Target.” By selecting the property and clicking

the list of search types (target and

anchor-target) will be displayed. For this data there is not a reliable anchor for the
target across the range of documents so a target search is needed.

The target being searched for is a regular expression rather than a specific value. If it
was a specific value (such as the word “account”) this would be entered as the value
of the Target property, and the value of the Target Type property would need
changing to “1 – Text.”

X

To test a target search for the date,

click the Test Current Search button to test

the search.

Results are shown on the image and in the three results panes.
