Airbags can povide life-saving protection,

but only in a severe frontal collision.

Airbags cannot be helpful, and they are

not intended to deploy, in any other type of

collision, including side or rear impacts,

rollovers, and minor or moderate frontal

collisions.

If the airbags deployed in any of these

situations, they would only cause additional

replacement expense, and they might even

cause additional injuries.

Seat belts, and the car's ability to absorb

crash energy, offer adequate protection in

minor and moderate frontal collisions.
