7. Place your BRIM-E100 behind the MIM faceplate. See Figure 3-5.

8. Insert the connector pins of the BRIM-E100 into the BRIM connector

on the MIM.

9. Press down firmly on the back of the BRIM-E100 until the pins slide

all the way into the connector holes.

10. Reinstall the mounting screws, and install the standoff screws.

11. Reinstall the MIM in the MMAC.

12. Reattach the network cabling to the MIM.

13. Reattach all MMAC power cords and power up the hub.

14. Refer to Chapter 5 for instructions on configuring the BRIM-E100

through Local Management. Appendix A provides Fast Ethernet
Interface Module connector and pinout information.

3.3.2 Installing a BRIM-E100 in a Hub

Install a BRIM-E100 into a standalone hub that supports BRIM
technology as follows:

1. Power down the hub and remove the power cord.

2. Disconnect all cables from the hub. Note the ports to which these

cables attach.

3. Attach the disposable grounding strap to your wrist and a proper

ground. Refer to the instructions outlined on the disposable grounding
strap package.

NOTE

Ensure that the standoffs on the MIM align with the standoff
screw holes on the BRIM.

Ensure that you remove the power cord and ONLY the screws
required to remove the chassis cover. Failure to comply could
result in an electric shock hazard.
