IF Connections
THERE MAY BE DC VOLTAGES PRESENT ON THE TYPE ‘N’ TX IF CONNECTORS, UP
TO A MAXIMUM OF 48 VOLTS, IF THE UPLINK MODEM HAS BUC POWER SUPPLY
OUTPUT.

Rx (OUT) L‐Band Connector Notes:
1. Return loss on the L‐Band ports is typically better than 14 dB.
2. If connection to an L‐Band 75Ω system is required, a Type ‘N’ to Type ‘F’ adapter can be
used and is available from Comtech EF Data as an optional accessory. While a reduction in
return loss will occur when adapting from 50Ω to 75Ω operation, the effect in most systems
will be imperceptible.

GPS INPUT Connections
The MCED‐100 provides users the ability to insert GPS location data into the Carrier ID message
string. The GPS location data is formatted in the GLL (Geographic Position Latitude/Longitude)
subset of the NMEA 0183 Protocol. This data can be generated either by the MCED‐100 internal
GPS receiver (using an external active GPS antenna), an external GPS unit (connected via EIA‐
232), or by manual user control.
It is recommended that output by the external GPS of any messages other than
NMEA 0183 Protocol‐standard messages be disabled.
