Term Definition

Alarm Call

The process of a telephone calling into TMA for either routine periodic calls or
fault detection. Also known as a “Call-In.”

ANI

An acronym for Automatic Number Identifier

Blinking LED

Illuminates at unequal intervals.

Call-in

The process of a telephone initiating a Call-In to TMA.

Call Log

A list stored in the telephone of all maintenance and user calls.

Configuration

The arrangement of hardware in the system and the setting of various attributes
and parameters used by the software to provide the desired features.

Database

A file with an .mdb file extension containing information for one TMA system.

Domain

The highest level in the hierarchal structure of a site telephone system.

DTMF

An acronym for Dual Tone Multi Frequency.

Flashing LED

Illuminates at equal intervals.

Flickering LED

Illuminates for approximately 90% of an interval, and turns off for approximately
10% of an interval.

Group

One of the three levels of the hierarchical structure under a domain in TMA.

Incoming Call

A call received at a telephone such as a maintenance call or a user (voice) call.

Indicator

An LED, lamp, or buzzer that provides notification of status.

LED

Acronym for Light Emitting Diode. Used as a visual indicator (lamp) on
equipment such as a PC or TMA DTMF Transceiver.

Maintenance call

An incoming call in which the telephone sends its operational status to TMA.

Modem

A device that sends and receives data.
