Indication
Shade simulation of the final luting composite. Checking
accuracy of fit of the final restoration. Protection of the
etching pattern during try in when the ceramic has been
etched by the laboratory.

Contraindication
Do not use the Try-In pastes if the patient is known to be
allergic to any of the material’s ingredients.

Side Effects
None known to date

Interactions
Carefully remove Try-In paste from the restoration and the
tooth before final seating. Otherwise, the bond between the
restoration and Variolink II may be impaired.

Application
Select the Try-In paste whose shade corresponds most
accurately to that of the restoration. Then, apply a small
amount of paste on the restoration and carefully seat it
without pressure. If the restoration cannot be seated easily,
check the contact surface as well as the proximal regions
for premature contacts. Do not force the restoration into pla-
ce (risk of fracture). Do not check the occlusion before the
final cementation (risk of fracture).

Important
Variolink II luting composite permits light-curing or dual-
curing seating (light-curing and self-curing). When using
the dual-curing method, simulation of the exact shade can
be achieved by mixing Try-In paste shade 210/A3 (simulates
Catalyst paste) with the second Try-In paste (simulates the
selected Base paste). Pastes are mixed in equal parts.

Try-In pastes are water soluble. They are easily removed by
holding the restoration under running water or placing it in
an ultrasonic bath. Clean and dry the restoration thoroughly.
Finally, the restoration is cemented using Variolink II (see
Variolink II Instructions for Use).

Note
Try-In paste shades and the corresponding Variolink II luting
composite shades vary slightly in the uncured state. The sha-
de of all luting composites changes slightly during and after
polymerization. Try-In paste shades are coordinated
with those of the thoroughly polymerized luting
composite.

Storage
– Do not use Variolink II Try-In after expiry date.
