Cabling the Appliance
To cable the NewsShare NAS:
1. Attach electrical cables as shown below. For greater redundancy, attach
electrical cables to separate power sources.
2. Attach an Ethernet cable from the left Ethernet port to a node on your
network. (The second port, to the right, is reserved. Do not use the right
Ethernet port. It is hard-coded to an address of 0.0.0.0.)
3. Cable the DSM by connecting the Gigabit NIC port 1 to the network switch,
using a standard CAT-5e Ethernet cable.
4. Cable a NewsEdit workstation to the NewsShare NAS by connecting the
Gigabit NIC port from the Gigabit card on the back of the NewsEdit
workstation to the network switch, using a standard CAT-5e Ethernet cable.
