Performing a HotSync operation

“HotSync” is a technology that allows you to automatically synchronize
CLIE handheld application data with the Palm Desktop for Sony software
data on the computer.

You can also reduce the time required for completing a HotSync operation
by only selecting the necessary data you want to synchronize.

Performing a HotSync operation for the first time

When performing a HotSync operation for the first time, you need to enter
your user information in the CLIE handheld and in the Palm Desktop for
Sony software.

When your first enter your information and then perform a HotSync
operation, the CLIE handheld user name is recognized automatically.

When you need to manage several units of the CLIE handheld through a
single computer, you must predefine a user profile for each unit of the
CLIE handheld. For more information, see “Creating a user profile” (page
174).

1

Click the HotSync icon

on the taskbar at the lower right

corner and select “Local” from the shortcut menu.

If there is no

icon in your taskbar, from the Windows “Start”

menu, point to “Programs,” click “CLIE handheld” – “HotSync
Manager,” to start HotSync Manager.

2

Turn on your CLIE handheld and place it on the cradle.

Place the back of the CLIE handheld carefully into the cradle.

3

Press the HotSync button on the cradle.
