Adjusting the squelch threshold

Adjustment range: 5 to 25 dB

μV, adjustable in 2-dB steps, can be switched

off

The squelch eliminates annoying noise when the transmitter is switched
off. It also suppresses sudden noise when there is no longer sufficient
transmitter power received by the receiver.

̈

Adjust the squelch threshold – with the transmitter switched off – to
the lowest possible setting that suppresses hissing noise.

CAUTION!

Danger of hearing damage and material damage!

If you switch the squelch off or adjust the squelch threshold to a very low
value, loud hissing noise can occur in the receiver. The hissing noise can be
loud enough to cause hearing damage or overload the loudspeakers of
your system!

̈

Always make sure that the squelch is switched on (see below).

̈

Before adjusting the squelch threshold, set the volume of the head-
phone output (see page 21) and the audio output level (“

AF Out

”, see

page 37) to the minimum.

̈

Never change the squelch threshold during a live transmission.
