ENGINE THROTTLE ADJUSTMENT TEST (continued)

TEST PROCEDURE

This test can be conducted by any one of four

methods.

Strobe-tach Method:

1. With the 5/16” nut driver, remove the 6 sheet

metal screws from the case top.

2. Remove the rubber gasket (cover seal) from the

lift bail.

3. Remove the fuel cap. The rubber gasket for the

fill tube will come off with the case top.

4. Remove the case top, then replace the fuel

cap.

5. Conduct this procedure with the gasoline

engine OFF.

6. Remove the spark plug wires to prevent acci-

dental engine kickback or starting.

7. With the black or red marking pencil, place a

mark on one of the blower paddles. See Figure

F.6 for location.

8. Connect the strobe-tach according the manu-

facturer’s instructions.

9. Reconnect the spark plug wires and start the

engine.

Direct the strobe-tach light on the

blower paddle and synchronize it to the rotat-

ing mark.

10. With the machine at HIGH IDLE the tach

should read between 3650 and 3750 RPM.

With the machine at LOW IDLE the tach

should read between 2150 and 2250 RPM.
