Fax - receiving
≥ The telephone line cord is connected to the EXT jack on the unit.
Connect to the LINE jack (p. 27).
≥ The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to the FAX ONLY or
TEL/FAX mode.
≥ The time taken to answer a call is too long. Decrease the number
of rings (p. 64, 73).
≥ The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode to the TEL
mode.
≥ The sender transmitted a faint document. Ask them to transmit a
clearer copy of the document.
Cause & Remedy Problem
I cannot receive documents.
I cannot receive documents
automatically.
The display shows
“CONNECTING.....” but faxes are not
received.
The recording image is faint.
Receive mode
≥ If you want to set the FAX ONLY or TEL/FAX mode:
—Select the desired mode using feature #77 (p. 72), and
—Press
(AUTO\ANSWER)
to turn on the AUTO ANSWER light.
≥ If you want to set the TEL mode:
—Press
(AUTO\ANSWER) to turn off the AUTO ANSWER light.

Cause & Remedy Problem
I cannot select the desired receive
mode.
≥ You cannot make a copy during programming. Make the copy after
programming or stop the programming.
≥ The white roller is dirty. Clean it (p. 116).
The unit does not make a copy.
White lines or black lines appear on
the copied document.

≥ Use the overseas transmission mode (p. 57).
≥ Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number (p. 35) or dial
manually.
