CAUTION: On

new construction,
Do Not fill storage
tank and/or charge
the closed loop
system until the
water heater is
ready for use.
Cover the collectors
until the system is
filled and charged.
Place a tag on the
system if it s not
filled and charged.

Closed Loop Fluid The closed loop must
be filled ONLY with Hartgard solution
and potable water.

Each system closed loop is to be filled
with one bottle of Hartgard and the
balance potable water.

When mixed, the approximate Hartgard
concentration is 20%.

Disposal of Fluid

Reprocess or burn in an approved
incinerator in accordance with
Federal/State/Local code requirements.

Test and Fill the Closed Loop

WARNING:

Under no
circumstances can
any fluid other
than Hartgard be
used, alternate
fluids could be
hazardous to your
health.

Test and Fill Procedure

• Remove the Fill Plug from the collector

fill assembly.

• Remove PR6

Jacket Relief Valve
from the tank.

• Connect a 1/2”

hose and fill the
closed loop with
water.

• Continue filling

until the water
overflows from the
PR6 Jacket Relief
Valve port and air
bubbles stop.

• Fit the Test Block

into the PR6 Port.

• Fit the PR6 Jacket

Relief Valve onto
the Test Block.

• Now remove the

hose from the Fill
Assembly and
replace the Fill
Plug.

• Connect a bicycle

pump to the Test
Block and
pressurize the
Closed Loop to
11.6 psi.

• Check all

connections for any
evidence of leakage.

• Ensure that the

pressure remains
constant at 11.6 psi
for at least 10
minutes.
