CONNECTIONS – ELECTRICAL

Extended Off-Peak Power Supply
Two actives from two separate circuits are required from the switchboard if the
booster heating unit is connected to an Extended Off-Peak power supply. The
two circuits must be able to be isolated at the switchboard by a single switch.

The active from the continuous circuit must be connected directly to the active
terminal marked A1 (marked “Controller” on the wiring diagram) on the terminal
block of the solar storage tank. This supply must remain uninterrupted to allow
the solar controls to operate and solar gain to be achieved.

The active wire from the Extended Off-Peak Circuit must be connected to the
active terminal marked A2 (marked “Booster” on the wiring diagram) on the
terminal block of the solar storage tank. An additional manual isolating switch
can be installed in the power supply circuit to the booster heating unit. Refer to
the

wiring connection diagram

on page 44.

If an additional manual isolating switch is installed, it must be on the power
supply from the Extended Off-Peak circuit, with the switched active wire
connected to the active terminal marked A2 (marked “Booster” on the wiring
diagram) on the terminal block of the solar storage tank. Refer to the

wiring

connection diagram

on page 44 and to

“Manual Controls”

on page 46. The

active from the continuous circuit and connected to the active terminal marked
A1 (marked “Controller” on the wiring diagram) on the terminal block of the
solar storage tank, must not be switched by the additional manual isolating
switch.

Extended Off-Peak Power Supply Connection to the Booster Heating Unit

The wire bridging the two active terminals marked A1 and A2 (marked
“Controller” and “Booster” respectively on the wiring diagram) on the terminal
block is not required and must not be connected if the booster heating unit is
connected to an Extended Off-Peak power supply, whether or not an additional
isolating switch is installed.
