Combining basic functions

Erasing part of a track – Divide and Erase

Divide the track at the end or beginning of the portion
you wish to erase. If necessary, repeat this operation
to separate an unwanted portion.
Then, erase the separated track.

Combining separately positioned tracks –
Move and Combine

If the tracks you want to combine are in different loca-
tions, move the track to be merged to a position fol-
lowing the other track, then combine them.

Notes on combining tracks
• You cannot combine a digital recording track and an

analog recording track. (If you try, “Impossible” will
appear on the display.)

• You cannot combine tracks recorded in different

recording modes. You can combine only tracks
recorded in the same recording mode. (For exam-
ple, a track recorded in MONO mode cannot be
combined with a track recorded in LP2 mode.)

Notes
• Information about the edited or erased contents is

recorded to the TOC of the MD when you eject the
MD, turn off the unit, or stop recording. Therefore,
do not disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead)
or vibrate the unit when the TOC indicator is lit or
flashing (see page 36).

• If the MEM, RDM, 1TR, or 1GR indicator is lit in the

display, you cannot edit or erase any tracks. In such
cases, cancel the MEMORY, RANDOM, 1TR, and
1GR playback mode (see page 42) before starting
the operation.

• If you edit an MD that has a group, the group infor-

mation may be modified.

Erasing all tracks on an MD – All Erase

• You can execute this function only when the input

source is MD and an MD is stopped.

• To cancel the operation, press MD .
