1.1 Function and configuration

Auxiliary level switches are used for additional level
signalling during continuous level measurement. The
auxiliary level switches VEGASEL 543 … 547 are each

provided with a current input 0/4 … 20 mA and a
voltage input 0/2 … 10 V. They are connected to the
current or voltage output of a signal conditioning
instrument VEGAMET or an instrument of other
manufacturers. The output signal must correspond to

the values of the technical data under 1.3 of this
instruction.

With two-point level switches determine the hysteresis
the switch points is set between 1 … 99 %. Two-point
level switches control e.g. the automatic filling or
emptying of a vessel, between two level values.

Magnetic valves, contactors as well as signals can be
connected to the outputs of VEGASEL.

The auxiliary level switches are designed for 19"-

carrier with 5 TE-width (1 TE = 5,08 mm) acc. to DIN
41 494 and can be inserted into carrier BGT 596 or
into housing type 505. The front plate can be covered
by a lockable transparent cover (attached to the
instrument) to protect against unauthorized use or

modification.

switch VEGASEL

The output signal is detected via the switching
amplifier in VEGASEL and converted into a switching
command which is available both as floating relay
contacts and transistors.

VEGASEL 543 … 547 consist of:
-

single point level switches

-

two-point level switches

-

combination of both

With single point level switches the switch point with
fixed hysteresis (1 % or 3 %) can be adjusted between
1 … 99 %. Single point level switches are normally
used as min. or max. switches for protection against

dry running of pump and overfill protection. The mode
is adjusted on VEGASEL.
