4.5 BATTERY MANAGEMENT

Maximum battery life and reliability are obtained by the following features:

Battery connection test

At start-up the unit performs an automatic test to check that the battery cabling and fuses are
properly connected.
If the test detects a battery disconnection, the corresponding alarm will be generated (see section 4.4.7).

Quick battery test

A quick battery test may be launched to check whether batteries are healthy. To start the test,
press ‘UPS on’ button (see section 4.1) for 0.5 seconds when the unit is in “normal operation”
conditions (see section 4.3.1).
In case of failure the corresponding alarm will be generated (see section 4.4.6 / 4.4.7)

Deep

battery

test

A deep battery test will update the runtime calculation and may be started via the UPS monitoring
software. The test will start only if the battery charge level is higher than 90% and the load must be
at least 20% of the nominal rating. The runtime calculation will be updated only if the test can run
uninterrupted till complete battery discharge.

NOTE

When executing a deep battery test the available runtime in case of mains
failure may be shorter than normal. Don’t execute this test if reduced battery
runtime is not acceptable.

NOTE

It’s possible to reset the battery test, by pressing the ‘UPS off’ switch (see 4.1)
for 1 sec. The UPS will switch to bypass mode.
