The preferred Display type for AutoLog data is Plot. Once displayed as a plot, the user may increase the window’s size (and thus the
plot surface) in both height and width by dragging the bottom-right corner of the Run window. Also, notice the particular Plot Option
frame in figure 4.33. Open this window by selecting the Scales button in the previous window (figure 4.32). Just as with the Trend plot
examples shown earlier, the user can accept the plot scale endpoints for each datum that are provided automatically, or manually edit
any or all plot scale endpoints. Unlike Trend plots, the user can also manually change the time scale’s endpoints. However, the user
must accept the time units as provided in the .atd file containing the extracted data, which are set automatically according to the time
span of the actual extracted test data. This is time in seconds for small spans, in minutes if the span exceed 120 seconds, in hours if the
span exceeds 120 minutes, or in days if the span exceed 48 hours.

Note that when the AutoLog Plot window is displayed, a Print Plot button appears in the top right of Run window. Click this button to
obtain a printer hard copy of the currently displayed AutoLog plot (in landscape format). The Trend Plot window does not have such
a button because its plotted data does not all exist in a file.

A considerable amount of time may pass, after clicking the Print Plot button, before any data appears on
the printer. This is because all the data in the currently selected .atd file must be re-plotted and sent to the
printer. Usually, the only indication of any progress is the appearance of a small printer icon in the
Windows

®

tray.

NOTICE:

The Display Options window for the Plot or Both display types can also be obtained by clicking the “plotting surface” of the Plot. If a
plot is used for displaying AutoLog extracted data the user may need to choose other options in the second frame of controls. First, the
AutoLog radio button must be clicked if Trend has been manually selected instead. Other options affect the color of plot background,
plot symbol density and size, and whether the Print Plot button is selected. As already described, the Scales button provides access to
an advanced feature that lets the end-points of each of the plot scales to be overridden manually by the user editing them. Once you
have changed any Scale End-Points manually, return them to default values by re-selecting the Plot or Both display type again or in the
case of AutoLog plots only, reselect the file again by clicking the AutoLog frame. The user can exclude any measurement from the
current plot by clicking its label (P, T, Tb, or Vs) on the Scales window. Click the name label again to restore the measurement to the
plot.

In addition to viewing the latest extracted AutoLog data file, the user may also access any previously extracted AutoLog data files from
the File menu or by clicking the AutoLog frame title. Either function will open a Windows

®

open file box.

All .atd files will be listed in the large white pane by default, and the latest one created will appear in the File Name: list box, ready to
select if the Open button is clicked. Otherwise, select any desired file name, and then click Open or double-click the desired file name.
