Changing the down sampling
setting

Some DVDs are recorded using a 24-bit/96 kHz
linear PCM (LPCM) signal. In order to play these
discs, the signal must be downsampled to 48
kHz/16 bit digital signals before being output
from the optical output.

NOTE

When the settings are changed, the old settings are
overwritten. Make a note of the current settings before
making changes. The settings are not cleared even when
the vehicle’s battery is disconnected.

1

In the stop mode, press and hold the SETUP
button for at least 2 seconds.
The setup menu appears on the monitor screen.

NOTE

This operation cannot be performed in the PRE-STOP
mode. When the disc is being played, press the
button
twice to set the stop mode.

then press the ENTER button.

The digital signals recorded on the DVD disc
with 96 kHz/24 bit, 96 kHz/20 bit, 96 kHz/16bit,
48 kHz/24 bit, 48 kHz/20 bit sampling are
converted into digital signals with 48 kHz/16 bit
sampling for output from the optical output.
Set to ON at time of shipment from factory.

Digital signals sampled at 96 kHz/24 bit, 96 kHz/
20 bit or 96 kHz/16 bit and recorded on the DVD
cannot be converted to 48 kHz/16 bit sampled
digital signal. There is no output from the optical
digital output terminal.
However, when CSS* scramble is on, a digital
signal sampled at 48 kHz/16 bit can be converted
and sent out through the optical digital output.

* CSS : An acronym for digital copy encryption

protection (Content Scrambling System).
