2.3 First Time Installation (Sensor LEARN Mode)

When configuring a system for the first time, when upgrading a system with new sensors, and
possibly after a rare system failure in which the loss of configuration information occurred, a
Sensor Learn operation is required.

Since the system configuration is saved in the monitor’s memory, only the monitor used
during installation will operate properly on the system
. When a new monitor is installed
the system installation procedure must be repeated.

BEFORE STARTING: All sensors, except a RADAR speed sensor, should be mounted in
their normal locations, but disconnected (3 pin connector) from the harness. The RADAR
speed sensor is not used during this LEARN procedure. If a RADAR speed sensor is used
on the system, the RADAR may be left connected or disconnected during this procedure.

Procedure Overview: The monitor is switched on while a special combination of buttons
is held down. This puts the monitor into “LEARN MODE”. Then, the sensors are connected,
one at a time, in a specific sequence. The sequence must be followed for a correct
installation. If the particular installation does not use all the sensors in the list, the installer
tells the monitor which sensors will be skipped by using the OK key when the monitor
prompts for those sensors.

Default Sensor Installation Sequence

Speed sensor
Fan 1 sensor
Fan 2 sensor
Shaft 1 sensor
Shaft 2 sensor
Shaft 3 sensor
Bin 1 Sensor
Bin 2 Sensor
Bin 3 Sensor

Procedure

1. Hold down all three of these keys: OK, DOWN and MODE. Power the unit on.

Continue holding the keys until the word “KEYOFF” appears on the display.

2. The display will alternate between “MISSED” and “SPEED” indicating that the speed

sensor may now be connected. The monitor will emit a beep when the proper sensor is
connected.
