Many errors are first indicated by a lit error LED on the diagnostic panel of the server. If an LED is lit, one or
more LEDs elsewhere in the server might also be lit to direct you to the source of the error. See “System
board LEDs” on page 50
.

Intelligent Diagnostics Module (IDM)

The IDM is available in some models to provide basic diagnostic functions. The following illustration shows
the diagnostic LEDs on the IDM panel.

The power supply is likely to fail
or has failed.

Check the BMC for errors and
run the diagnostic programs. See
“Using a diagnostic program” on
page 160.
Note: To identify the failing power
supply, check the status LED
near the power cord connector
on the redundant power supply.

Solid off

The server is running at a normal
temperature.

Ambient temperature

Solid on (amber)

The ambient temperature is below
7°C (44.6°F) or over 40°C (104°F).

Check the BMC for errors and
run the diagnostic programs. See
“Using a diagnostic program” on
page 160.

Solid off

The system fans are operating
correctly.

System fan error LED

Solid on (amber)

One or more system fans are
running at low speed or have
been removed.

Check the BMC for errors and
run the diagnostic programs. See
“Using a diagnostic program” on
page 160.
Note: To identify the failing
system fans, check the status
LEDs on the system board. See
“System board LEDs” on page
50.
