Initial Set up

Crossover Network

If you're using small speakers that can't reproduce good bass, you should have set those speakers to SMALL in
the Speaker Setting section. This causes the bass to be routed to other speakers in your system which can
handle it either the subwoofer or speakers set to LARGE in Speaker Setting. The Crossover Network setting lets
you specify a frequency, below which, sound will be routed to these other speakers.
If continuing from “Channel Level” go to step 1. If starting fresh, complete steps 1 – 3 in “Setting Up for
Surround Sound“ (p. 30 – 31) first.

1 Select “Crossover Network” (“Crossover” on

the front panel) with the

5¥∞ buttons or

MULTI JOG dial (if continuing from CHANNEL
LEVEL, it will already be selected).

See "Setting Up for Surround Sound" on p. 30 – 31 if you are
unsure how to do this.

Press the ENTER button.

The default setting is 80 Hz.

2 Specify the crossover frequency for your

small speakers.

Setting speakers to SMALL in “Speaker Setting“ sends the
respective channel's bass frequencies to the subwoofer (or
LARGE speakers if you don’t have a subwoofer). The present
function lets you determine which frequencies will be sent to the
subwoofer (or LARGE speakers).

1 Use the

5¥∞ buttons to select 80 Hz, 100 Hz, or 150 Hz.

80 Hz (default/THX setting)

Sends bass frequencies below 80 Hz to the subwoofer (or
LARGE speakers).

100 Hz

Sends bass frequencies below 100 Hz to the subwoofer (or
LARGE speakers).

150 Hz

Sends bass frequencies below 150 Hz to the subwoofer (or
LARGE speakers).

Experiment with the different settings to see which sounds
best to you.

3 Press ENTER to send the information to the

receiver and go to the “Bass Peak Level”
setup.

If you want to change a setting before proceeding use the
5¥∞ buttons (or MULTI JOG dial) to go back.
