Maintenance information

Cleaning the video head

To ensure normal recording and clear pictures, clean the video heads. The video head
may be dirty when:

• The© indicator and CLEANING CASSETTE" message appear one after another

or the © indicator flashes on the LCD screen or in the viewfinder.

• Playback pictures contain noise.
• Playback pictures are hardly visible.
• Playback pictures do not appear.

If this happens, clean the video heads with the Sony V8-25CLH/V8-25CLD cleaning
cassette (not supplied).

Note on video heads

When the playback pictures are still contain noise even if you have cleaned the video
heads with a cleaning cassette, the video heads may have worn down due to long use. If

this is the case, they must be replaced with new heads. Contact your Sony dealer or
local authorized Sony service facility.

Cleaning the LCD screen

If fingerprints or dust make the LCD screen dirty, we recommend using a LCD
Cleaning Kit (not supplied) to clean the LCD screen.

Removing dust from inside the viewfinder

(1) ©Remove the screw with a screwdriver (not supplied). ©Then, while sliding

the RELEASE knob, ©turn the eyecup in the direction of the arrow and pull it
out.

Clean the surface with a commercially available blower for a still camera.

Reattach the eyecup and replace the screw.

Caution

Do not remove any other screws. You may remove only the screw to remove the
eyecup.
