How sound is recorded on a video tape

The VCR records sound onto two separate tracks. Hi-fi audio is recordeci
onto the main track along with tire picture. Monaural sound is recx)rded
onto the normal audio track along the edge of the tape.

Notes

• To play a tape in stereo, you must use the A/V connections.
• When you plav a tape recorded in monaural, the sound is heard in monaural

regardless of the AUDIO MONITOR setting.

• If the AUDIO MONITOR button does not function, check that AUDIO MIX in the

ADVANCED OPTIONS menu is set to OFF.

• Set NORMAL AUDIO to MAIN when not recording SAP sound, or no sound is

recorded on the normal audio track. If no sound is recorded on the normal audio
track and you play the tape on a mono VCR, you will see only video — no audio
will he heard.
