Thank you for purchasing the Yamaha
PortaSound PSS-140.
Reading this manual while playing your
new instrument is the best way to get
to know it and have fun right from the
start. The illustration on page2will help
you quickly locate all controls.
The Owner’s Guide first shows you how
to provide the PSS-140 with POWER,
using batteries or an adaptor. You can
then turn it on and start PLAYING THE
PSS-140 right away, adjusting VOLUME
as you wish and using VOICE SELECT
to choose any instrument sound you
want from among the 100 preset voices.
Before learning about the sophisticated
accompaniment features, listen to a
DEMONSTRATION. This will give you
an idea of the kind of music you will
soon be able to perform all by yourself.
The Guide goes on to explain the
RHYTHM Section and how to use the
AUTO ACCOMPANIMENT features and
The DRUM PAD. At the same time,
practical score examples will have you
playing in no time, showing you how to
make the most of your PSS-140 mu­
sically.
The guide finally tells you how you can
use the HEADPHONES/AUX. OUT Jack
for private practicing or connection of
the PortaSound to your stereo system,

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zu Ihrem
neuen PortaSound PSS-140.
Am besten lesen Sie diese Bedienungs­
anleitung, während Sie Ihr neues In­
struments spielen — so lernen Sie es
schnell kennen und haben gleich von
Anfang an Spaß damit. Die Abbildung
auf S. 2 hilft Ihnen dabei, die verschie­
denen Bedienelemente rasch aufzu­
finden.
Die Bedienungsanleitung zeigt Ihnen
zunächst, wie Sie Ihr PortaSound mit
STROM versorgen, indem Sie Batterien
oder einen Netzadapter verwenden. Sie
können das Keyboard dann einschalten
und sofort darauf SPIELEN, wobei Sie
die LAUTSTÄRKE wie gewünscht
einstellen und mit den Tasten für
STIMMENWAHL die gewünschte In­
strumentenstimme wählen können. 100
verschiedene Klänge stehen dabei zur
Auswahl.
Ehe Sie lernen, die raffinierten
Begleitmöglichkeiten Ihres PortaSound
zu verwenden, sollten Sie sich eine kleine
E)EMONSTRATION anhören. Durch
diese automatische Vorführung bekom­
men Sie einen Eindruck davon, was für
Musik Sie bald ganz alleine werden
spielen können. Die Bedienungsanlei­
tung erklärt dann im folgenden den
RHYTHMUS- TEIL, und wie Sie die
Funktionen der AUTOMATISCHEN
BEGLEITUNG sowie die TROM­
MELTASTEN verwenden. Gleichzeitig
ermöglichen Ihnen praktische Noten­
beispiele, sofort selber zu spielen und
dabei musikalisch alles aus Ihrem
PSS-140 herauszuholen.
Die Bedienungsanleitung zeigt Ihnen
schließlich, wie Sie die
KOPFHÖRER/AUX.-ANSCHLUSS-
BUCHSE verwenden können, um still
für sich zu üben oder das PortaSound
an Ihre Stereoanlage anzuschließen.

PFLEGEHINWEISE für Ihr neues In­

Ce guide commence par vous décrire
les diverses possibilités
d’ALIMENTATION du PSS-140: soit par
piles, soit par adaptateur. Vous pouvez
ainsi le mettre sous tension et com­
mencer à JOUER SUR LE PSS-140 en
réglant le VOLUME selon vos préfé­
rences et en effectuant une SELECTION
DES SONS parmi les 100 sons propo­
sés.

su nuevo instrumento es la mejor forma
de llegar a conocerlo y disfrutarlo ya
desde el principio. La ilustración que
se encuentra en la página 2 le ayudará
a localizar rápidamente todos los con­
troles.
El Manual del Propietario le indica en
primer lugar cómo ALIMENTAR el
PSS-140, con pilas o un adaptador.
Puede entonces encenderlo y comenzar
a TOCAR EL PSS-140 directamente,
ajustando el VOLUMEN como desee y
utilizando la selección de voces (VOICE
SELECT) para escoger cualquier sonido
instrumental que desee de entre las 100
voces preestablecidas.
Antes de conocer las refinadas propie­
dades de acompañamiento, escuche una
DEMOSTRACION. Le dará una idea
