Add-ons and custom sample vessels

Many sample vessels made of glass only, such as Petri dishes, can be cleaned in a washer with stan-
dard detergents. However, all BUCHI add-ons can be rinsed and cleaned with Meliseptol® liquid or
spray by B.Braun (disinfectants on alcohol basis).

Dishwasher-proof parts:
• Petri dishes
• Unbreakable cup
• Spinner cpl.
• XL add-on
• High performance cup

NOTE
Spray-disinfection should be used in addition to surface disinfection with wipes only!

How to perform a database backup

The user (NIR administrator) is responsible for data backup. BUCHI recommends frequent backups
with an advanced backup strategy such as monthly, weekly and daily snapshots on independent data
storages.

Grandfather-Father-Son example backup strategy
A commonly used media rotation schedule is “Grandfather-Father-Son”. This scheme has an hierar-
chical structure with daily (Son), weekly (Father), and monthly (Grandfather) backup sets.

• Independent media are labeled for daily backups (Monday through Thursday). This ‘Son’ group of

media will be recycled weekly.

• On Friday, a weekly backup must be perfomed. A set of up to five weekly backup media is labeled

“Week1”, “Week2” and so on. This ‘Father’ group of media will be recycled monthly.

• Full backups are stored at the end of every month. The set of twelve monthly backup media is

called ‘Grandfather’ and will never be recycled.

Backup options
• Via USB connection to an external storage
• Via network to a backup server or network storage

7 .3 .1

Creating a database backup-file

For a detailed description refer to the Operation Manual of the BUCHI Database Manager:
➥“

Start”

➡ “Programs” ➡ “Buchi” ➥ “Database Manager” ➥ “Operation Manual“.

7 .3 .2

Advanced selective archive actions

Via the entry ‘Archive Operations’ the NIRMaster Administrators can create a new, empty database
containing all subsettings i.e. security, user and lifecycle settings. A wizard will guide the Administrator
through the procedure. Applications and library calibrations can can be selected to be imported into
the new database. The old database will be transformed into a backup file.
