You can use the digital zoom to zoom up to a maximum of 12x and capture
subjects that are too far away for the optical zoom

(p. 27)

to enlarge. The

images may appear coarse, however, depending on the recording pixel
setting

(p. 70)

and the zoom factor used.

Press the

i button.

Hold the

i button until zooming stops.

When you release the

i button, the

largest possible zoom factor without
image deterioration, and

will appear.

Press the

i button again.

The digital zoom will further zoom in on
the subject.

To turn off the digital zoom, press the

n button, select the 4 tab, and select

[Digital Zoom] and the [Off] option.

Turning off the digital zoom

The focal length when using digital zoom is 105 – 420 mm (35mm film
equivalent).

: No image deterioration (zoom factor appears white)

: Image deterioration (zoom factor appears blue)

: Maximum zoom factor without deterioration (Safety Zoom)
