5.1 Functions of the CU-7000

The optical communications unit CU-7000 is available in two models: CU-7001 and CU-
7002. The CU-7001 has both of functions (1) and (2) given below; the CU-7002 has only
function (1).

Data exchange function

The CU-7001/CU-7002 exchanges data and programs between the BHT-7000 and
the host computer. It interfaces with the BHT-7000 via the optical interface and
with the host computer via the RS-232C interface.

(2)

Battery cartridge charging function

The CU-7001 charges the lithium-ion battery cartridge.

5.2 Components and Functions

LED indicators

DATA (Communications
LED, green)
Lights when the BHT-7000 is commu-
nicating with the host computer.

POWER (Power LED, green)

Lights when the power is
applied to the CU-7000.

Optical interface port

Used to exchange data optically
with the BHT-7000.

Power inlet connector

Plug the AC adapter into this connector.

RS-232C interface port

Used to exchange data with the host computer.
