Terminal Address

Any valid NCR address may entered in this field. There is one entry for each
station on this port. This is the address the TXPORT device sends as a poll to the
connected terminals.

Connecting Address

This field is used to convert the Terminal Address to another unique NCR address.
The connecting address is primarily used when two identical addresses on separate
terminal ports are connected to the same host port. Since having two identical
addresses on a host port is not allowed, one of the addresses must be converted. The
TXPORT device makes a connection to the host port using the address in this field.

Station Name

Each station in a configuration must be assigned a unique name. This can be up to
17 characters and cannot include spaces. Generally, the station is assigned the same
name or number the host computer uses, however, this is not required. Any naming
convention can be used as long as each name is unique.

Default Host

This field represents the host port the station connects to when the unit is powered on.
A valid destination must be entered for the station to successfully make a connection.

Options

A. Auto Connect on Power up.

When the unit is first powered on or reset, the

controller polls each device. When a response is received, the controller tries to
establish a logical connection to the host named in the Default Host field. The
normal setting is Y. See page 165 for further information.

B. Don't Send Status Message.

When set to Y, the status messages defined on the

message screen are not sent to the terminal. The normal setting is N for terminal
and Y for printers. See page 167 for further information.

C. Reserved Channel.

When set to Y, indicates this device rejects messages sent

using the Send command. The normal setting is N. See page 168 for further
information.

D. Device is sharable.

This option is set to Y when multiple hosts need to share

this device. When set to Y, option A must be set to N and Auto Connect on Select
must be set to Y on the host port. This is typically set when a line printer is shared
by multiple hosts. The normal setting is N. See page 168 for further information.

E. Non-SMF.

When set to Y, the TXPORT device supports NCR 2262, 270, and

ATMs that are not using the SMF record format.

This option is available on firmware version 2.56 and later.

F. Non-NCR.

When set to Y, the TXPORT device supports NCR 2262s that are not

using the NCR host TA2 addressing. (TA2 and the Select Address are the same).
