The M7140 Server Login

This chapter describes the login functions of the M7140
terminal. It also describes using Telnet and Terminal

Emulation support.

arning: If the M7140 Desktop terminal has improper security and/or network
settings, the terminal will fail to connect to any network devices. For help see
the Network Settings section of this manual.

The CommandLink™ Software

The CommandLink™ software allows a Windows based PC
to become a host server. A host server is a master control PC
that tells the M7140 desktop terminal what to display and
what to do with collected data. If your network already has a
host server then you may choose to login into that server.
Many servers use a Telnet session to connect them to their
client devices. By default, the M7140 starts a telnet session
when it is first turned on. For more information about telnet,
see the Telnet section of this chapter.

Wait WLAN

The following screen shows the M7140 desktop terminal waiting to find a Wireless Local
Area Network (WLAN).
