Section 3 — System Operation

Link Enable

– Enables the bus link, same as the Controlling bus

Link Enable

on

the Bus Linking menu.

Break Link

– Breaks the link between the buses. After the link is broken that

pair of buses is deleted from the menu. It is therefore not possible to undo
the Break Link operation.

Bus Linking Operation

Once the Bus Linking associations have been established and enabled,
selecting a source on a Controlling bus that is associated with a source on a
Linked bus will make the Linked bus select its associated source. The fol-
lowing special operating rules apply.

Source Override

Holding down a source select button on a Linked bus prevents that bus
from changing its sources when Controlling bus source selections change.

Bus Pair Rules

Kalypso source selection buses can operate in pairs. M/E keyer buses
operate in video fill/key cut mode. Aux buses can be configured in pairs,
either as video fill/key cut or as video/video for external DPMs. When an
bus pair is involved in bus linking, the following rules apply:

Key cut selections on video fill/key cut bus pairs does not affect the key
cut source on a linked bus (split key cut selections don’t link).

The fill/A side of the Controlling bus is always sent to the fill/A side of
the Linked bus.

If the Controlling bus is in video/video mode, the B side selection will
be sent to the Linked bus.

If the Linked bus is in video-video mode, a B side source change from
the Controlling bus will change the Linked bus's B side.

A video only bus behaves as if it is the A side of a bus pair.
