Methods of Managing the Switch

Hitachi’s HiSpeed switch can be managed using the following:

Serial connection on the console port

Telnet session over a TCP/IP network

SNMP using HiView’s Graphical User Interface (GUI)

CLI (Command Line Interface)

Hitachi employes a command line interface (CLI) application for configuring the
HiSpeed switch. The CLI can be accessed from:

Console Port

Telnet session

Using the Console Port

Connect a terminal to the HiSpeed switch using a null-modem RS-232 serial
cable. A DOS/Windows or Unix workstation running in terminal emulation mode
can also be used. The console port on the switch is configured as DCE, which
requires the use of a null-modem cable. Because the connection is a male DB9
interface, your cable should be a female DB9 connector on the other end.
