Troubleshooting a Telnet Session

Use the following procedure when you cannot establish a Telnet session to the
switch:

1.

Verify that the console setting on the switch is unlocked.

/console>lock

2.

Verify that a link is established on the Ethernet port.

3.

Verify the port is enabled and in “Forwarding” mode. Using the CLI, type

vvp

4.

Ping yourself first. Verify the switch’s IP address, subnet mask, and the
default router configurations are correct.

Logging In

The HiSpeed switch is shipped from the factory with pre-installed software. By
default, the switch is configured to boot from flash. After the switch has been
booted, the login prompt will be displayed. Log in by entering admin, in
lowercase.

Login: admin

The switch will then prompt you for a password. Enter switch, in lowercase. The
password will not be displayed on the screen. For security reasons, change the
admin password as soon as possible. To do so, use the /SYSTEM/CONFIG/
ADMINPW command. (Refer to the User Guide for more details on this
command).

Troubleshooting the Login Procedure

Use the following procedure when you cannot log into the switch:

1.

For console port access, press [Return] several times before the Login prompt
appears.

2.

Ensure that you are using all lowercase for your login name and password.

3.

Contact your supplier to have your password reset if you are unable to log in
with the correct password.
