Troubleshooting PTOP

Problem:

I’ve created a PTOP service but cannot connect to the ATM network.

Solution:

Use the following solutions:

Verify that the PTOP service has been created, admin status is
enabled, and protocol state is ‘active’.

/ATM/SHOW/ptop <ptop id>

/ATM/CONFIG/ENABLE/ptop <ptop id>

If using SVC connections, ensure that the ATM port is configured for
SVC mode and ILMI is enabled. By default, the ATM port is set to
‘PVC’ mode and ILMI is disabled.

/ATM/CONFIG/MODIFY> port

using SVC connections, ensure that the ATM port is configured for
SVC mode. By default, the ATM port is set to ‘PVC’ mode.

/ATM/CONFIG/MODIFY> port

If using SVC connections, ensure that you are using the same UNI
signaling version as that of the connected ATM switch.

/ATM/CONFIG/MODIFY >port

If using SVC connections, verify the following:

Port configured as SVC, ILMI enabled, and the UNI version is
correct.

/ATM/CONFIG/MODIFY >port

Correct ATM address of destination switch. The last 2 selector
bytes needs to be configured as follows:

Example:

xxx52

‘xxx’

denotes the ATM address defined on the switch. Do a ‘vap’

to find out what it is.

‘5’

is a reserved identifier for PTOP.

‘2’

identifies the PTOP index configured on the destination

switch.

Ensure the correct PTOP index is mapped to the switch you are
trying to connect to.
